Thank you! I'm driving and the hard part is always going through Ohio because you have to drive slowly as the cops there LOVE to ticket outofstaters. Fortunately, I will have the new Portishead cd to keep me company: yum.
Ann Arbor was for me something like the Emerald City. Out of high school I got accepted there but didn't go. Year after year I met people from there and they were all magical. Sometimes I would travel through and be struck dumb by the homey smart energy of the tree lined streets, by the celebratory seriousness of the campus. My professor turned second mother taught there for a while. Then my niece got a degree there. It is pretty in all seasons. And a sweetheart too. Luck.
Ciao Math, It's cool that you've been to Ann Arbor, I think it may be my favorite place in the whole world. It's where I was born and grew up and went to college as an undergrad. My sister graduated from UofM's medical school yesterday and the commencement ceremony was held in Hill Auditorium, which is renowned for it's acoustics. The ceremony was full of sound and fury; a great spectacle... Ann Arbor is particularly gorgeous right now because everywhere there are trees blossoming in all shades of pink and purple. Did you visit the Arboretum when you were here? It's the spacious park cultivated by The University of Michigan. I walked around it yesterday with my honey and it really was like being in heaven. I'm so happy to be here, even if only for a little while.
